FFN Are Reintroducing Themselves With “Out of Sight”

For FFN, the word “beginning” doesn’t quite tell the whole story.

After years of working as a solo project, vocalist Matheus is now stepping into a new era with bandmates Josh and John. The result is something the group describes as a “re-debut,” a fresh chapter built around collaboration, identity, and a fully realized creative vision.

“We’re currently in the process of a re-debut,” Matheus tells Breakline. “I was a solo artist for a long time, but now with Josh and John joining, it’s become a full-fledged band.”

That shift didn’t just change the lineup. It changed the ambition behind the project.

“We wanted to build a sort of universe,” he explains. “The visuals, the lights, the aesthetic — something people could really invest in.”

Their newest single, Out of Sight, is the first major glimpse into that world.

The track carries a strong emotional undercurrent, blending atmospheric guitars with lyrics rooted in personal experience. According to Matheus, the inspiration came from navigating the aftermath of a difficult relationship.

“I had just gotten out of a super toxic relationship,” he says. “The song is about not knowing where you stand with someone. Every day it’s something different.”

For guitarist Josh, the band’s creative process starts less with lyrics and more with mood.

“For me it starts with a vibe,” he explains. “You build the track first, create the atmosphere, and then the melodies and lyrics come afterward.”

That approach helps shape the sonic identity FFN is building — something that blends emotional storytelling with immersive sound design.

It also reflects the natural chemistry between the band members.

“We’re just a bunch of dudes making music we like to make and listening to the same music,” Josh says.

Even though the group hasn’t yet played a full live show together, they’re already thinking carefully about the kind of experience they want to create on stage.

“We want people to feel nostalgic and melancholic,” Matheus explains. “We want them to understand this is a brand and an aesthetic, not just catchy hooks.”

Right now, FFN are focused on building momentum by releasing singles while preparing for the eventual release of a full record already waiting in the wings.

But for the band, success isn’t about chasing quick viral moments.

“Chasing a viral moment is great, but viral moments are flashes in the pan,” Josh says. “We want to build something that lasts.”

And in a music industry obsessed with numbers, the band has a refreshingly simple definition of success.

“Maybe we don’t have three million monthly listeners,” he adds. “Maybe we have 200,000. But if all 200,000 of them show up to a show, that’s success.”

For FFN, this next chapter isn’t about instant fame.

It’s about building something real.
